Why do the backslapping atheists-mocking-Christians on R&S so often backfire? Is it unwarranted.....?
......overconfidence about their pseudo-knowledge of a subject (about which the poster apparently knows very little but thinks he/she has mastered) or simply a case where hubris derived from one's personal belief system overwhelms caution? And is it simply another example of one kind of fundamentalist working overtime to discredit the fundamentalism of someone at the other end of the religious belief spectrum? (Indeed, should this kind of mocking be considered part of the definition of fundamentalism itself?)
An Example from R&S: Atheists are being notified of some alleged Christian who was unaware that early Christians kept the Jewish Sabbath -- while the naive poster apparently remains oblivious to the fact that early Christians were Jewish and THEREFORE, OF COURSE they had kept the Sabbath since birth:
